The
Comprehensive Diabetes Control Program of the Michigan Department of
Community Health has been designated as a "Community Best Practice
model in public health" by the Assistant Secretary for Health,
U. S. Department of Health and Human Services. The "Best Practices
Initiative" is designed to share information about successful health
programs across the country with health educators and health care providers
in other states and localities. Specifically cited in the Assistant
Secretary's designation was the success of Michigan's Diabetes Outreach
Networks, which are funded by the Michigan Diabetes Control program.
